On the second day of Sew OK, my true love gave to me: one Texan speaker,
a pair of serger tweezers
three ladies laughing,
five Gleeful projects!
Okay, that’s enough…
We started Friday with a talk from Caroline Hulse of Sew Caroline, she filled us in on her journey in the sewing/blogging world. It was interesting to hear how she started (working at a local quilt shop) and where she is so far (her own patterns, a fabric line and threads, even). THANK YOU, CAROLINE.
We did more free-sewing and after lunch, we had class with Dana Bolyard from the blog/company, Old Red Barn Co.
Dana demonstrated how to sew curves using serger tweezers! It was a technique that was new to me! I sew curves, but, never with tweezers!
Dana also signed copies of her newly released book, Imagine Quilts. She brought a quilt that she made from the book to show:
Way back in 2007, when I picked up sewing again, I started reading more sewing blogs (instead of other crafty blogs that I had read for a couple of years) and I ran across Old Red Barn Co. It was a great blog with good pictures, handmade soaps, quilt alongs, and giveaways, QUILT GIVEAWAYS. I actually entered her Katie Jumprope quilt giveaway. I did not win, but I remember stalking that blog until she posted a winner! It was a pleasure to have Dana at Sew OK, on the real, Susannah suggested her as an instructor, I’m so happy that she said “Yes.” THANK YOU VERY MUCH, DANA!
On Friday evening, my friend Dana Beach (Crafty Minx) and her friend, Trish painted and decorated our fingernails! We used 4 SoapBox collections from Soak Wash and they were a hit! The ladies did a fantastic job decorating and were so much fun!
THANK YOU, DANA & TRISH!
Oh, do you see that triangle quilt right there? Yes, Dana Beach made that, it is her second quilt (first one was a baby quilt)! Isn’t that quilt just bonkers?! I am still happy that she brought it with her for us all to fondle.
Several of us stayed up really late sewing, quilting, and having a grand time.
Until we weren’t having a grand time…
Are you still reading this? Good! You can have a chance to win Dana’s book, Imagine Quilts. Leave a comment on this post and I will randomly select a winner on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, Dana will send you an e-copy of her book, which means it is an electronic copy, you will not receive a physical book. Now, feel free to visit Dana’s blog and purchase a signed copy from her, authors love writing little notes in their books, it makes them even more special to give.
Thanks to Amanda Lipscomb for taking pictures!
I want to also take time to thank one of our huge supporters, Owl and Drum! They have been so great to work with, from the day we announced Sew OK until the end, Bianca has been absolutely wonderful, thank you so very much! Readers, visit their online shop and if you are in the Tulsa area, stop in and buy some stuff!
